Here’s a first look at photos of Chris Mason and Jeff Mason racing The Mzcalero in La Carrera Panamericana 2022. The Driving La Carrera team finished 5th in the highly competitive Historic A+ class and 28th overall.

Qualifying
A short qualifying stage in Veracruz to test the cars and set the starting order.
Stage 1: Veracruz to Oaxaca
(516 KM) After a good start in the morning speed sections, the Mzcalero had an electrical problem that ended our day.
Stage 2: Oaxaca To México City
(566 KM) An early morning start in Oaxaca led to a day full of racing that ended in beautiful México City.
Stage 3: México City To Queretaro
(357 KM) Leaving CDMX the race headed into the pine-covered hills for fast mountain racing up to Chapa de Mota and the famous Sacacorchos, the corkscrew.
Stage 4: Queretaro to Morelia
(401 KM) Two loops of the famous Mil Cumbres speed sections made for a tough and technical day of racing. Heavy rain in the final sections only made the challenging roads more dangerous.
Stage 5: Morelia to GuanaJuato
(395 KM) The morning began with a reverse run through the foggy and slippery Mil Cumbres speed sections before heading north to a finish in Quanajuato. The Mzcalero developed a problem with 5th gear requiring an overnight gearbox change.
Stage 6: GuanaJuato To San Luis Potosi
(396 KM) The hills of Michoacan gave way to the wide open northern landscape and some of the fastest speed sections of the race.
Stage 7: San Luis Potosi To Durango
(900 KM) Stage 7 began with a massive 460 KM transit to Durango and beyond to the more feared speed section of the race, Espinazo del Diablo, the spine of the devil. After six days of racing, this stage requires every bit of focus, energy, and courage you have left.
